Channel 4 & 4seven: Schedule Status & Listings  15th December to 14th January 2022

SEASON RIGHTS: 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29, 30 LISTINGS SOURCE: Channel4.com, Digiguide Channel 4 are airing season 16 in the usual 6pm weekday slot. On Sunday mornings and lunchtimes on C4, we get a mixture, primarily from seasons 18 and 22. Saturday mornings are usually home to repeats of episodes broadcast the prior Sunday. There are a few late night episodes, too, including some Treehouse of Horrors on C4, and a few repeats over on 4seven. Over Christmas, we get bonus morning episodes - between two and five - on weekdays from Thursday 22nd onwards, and some days have two to four episodes over lunchtime also - the show absolutely dominates daytime. As a counterbalance, however, most weekdays over the holidays have no 6pm episode. After wrapping up seasons 16, 18 and 22 in dribs and drabs, the latter of which has already been running in regular slots, the morning and lunchtime slots transition to season 24, which C4 have reacquired after a couple of years away. Seasons and episode orders are mixed up somewhat, so consult the details below for full information. Channel 4 are also treating us to a selection of festive episodes over Christmas: "Grift of the Magi" on Wednesday 21st at 6pm and Christmas Day at 6:55am "Skinner's Sense of Snow" on Sunday 18th at 12:30pm and Christmas Eve at 11:00am "Kill Gil, Vols. 1 & 2" on Sunday 18th at 1pm and Christmas Day at 6:30am "The Fight Before Christmas" on Christmas Eve at 10:30am and Christmas Day at 7:20am "Holidays of Future Passed" on Sunday 18th at 8:30am, Tuesday 20th at 6pm, and Christmas Day at 6:05am "The Nightmare After Krustmas" on Sunday 18th at 9am and Monday 19th at 6pm No outing for "Simpsons Christmas Stories" or "'Tis the 30th Season" (which they premiered in November). In January, it's back to the usual 6pm weekday slots from Wednesday 4th, at which point season 24 - which has been running in fits and starts throughout the festive period - wraps, and season 4 returns to C4 after a couple of years away. Episodes starting between midnight and 5:30am are listed as part of the previous day's schedule, similar to most print TV guides. Note that all episodes that air on Channel 4 are simulcast on Channel 4 HD and can be viewed one hour later on their timeshift service, Channel 4 +1.

RTÉ2: Schedule Status & Listings  15th December to 14th January 2022

SEASON RIGHTS: 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29, 30 LISTINGS SOURCE: RadioTimes.com, Digiguide RTÉ2 are currently in the middle of their premiere broadcast of season 30 in the usual weekday 4:30pm slot. Season 18 follows, but we take a break for Christmas, with no regularly scheduled episodes between Christmas Eve and Monday 2nd inclusive. We get a mere two festive episodes over the break - and frankly, even that is a stretch - but one is new to RTE: "'Tis the 30th Season" gets its RTE premiere on Boxing Day at 5:20pm (it aired on Channel 4 last month) and "Gone Boy", which isn't really much of a Christmas episode, is airing Tuesday 27th at 5:25pm Normal service resumes from Tuesday 3rd, when season 18 continues in the usual 4:30pm weekday slot.

Sky Showcase: Schedule Status & Complete Listings  15th December to 14th January 2022

SEASON RIGHTS: 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 31, 32, 33, 34 LISTINGS SOURCE: Digiguide Sky Showcase currently broadcast four episodes on most weekdays: one at 5pm, then three from 6:30pm to 8pm (sometimes four, and sometimes in 25-minute slots instead of half-hours). Weekends are a little less predictable, but we usually get a decent number of episodes - usually between three and eight a day, spread across the morning, afternoon and evening. Currently airing: season 25, in two concurrent runs - one primetime (6:30pm and later, except Saturday), one out-of-primetime (pre-6:30pm). Following that it's season 26. Look out for some additional episodes in the 8pm hour on certain days, and some Friday timings vary. As always, some episodes deemed unsuitable for daytime broadcast are skipped. Change is naturally afoot Christmas holidays, with substantially more morning and afternoon slots, and fewer broadcasts in the evening - indeed, between the 17th and the 2nd there is not a single broadcast after 6pm, remarkably. Most days net out to a positive, though, with a typical late-December day home to five or six slots between 6am and 6pm. Season 26 continues throughout the period, broadcast twice in total in varying slots, and it's followed by an outing for season 32, and then the start of season 33. And of course, in addition to that, Sky are also treating us to a selection of festive episodes over the Christmas period (times and dates still to be confirmed at the moment): "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire" on Monday 19th at 3:15pm and Thursday 22nd at 10:30am "Marge Be Not Proud" on Monday 19th at 3:40pm and Friday 23rd at 10:15am "Miracle on Evergreen Terrace" on Monday 19th at 4:05pm and Thursday 22nd at 3pm "She of Little Faith" on Monday 19th at 4:30pm, Wednesday 21st at 2:30pm and Friday 23rd at 9am "Dude, Where's My Ranch?" (yep, Sky consider this a Christmas ep) on Tuesday 20th at 3pm "White Christmas Blues" on Tuesday 20th at 3:30pm and Friday 23rd at 9:25am "I Won't Be Home for Christmas" on Wednesday 21st at 1pm "Bobby, It's Cold Outside" on Wednesday 21st at 3pm and Friday 23rd at 9:50am "A Springfield Summer Christmas for Christmas" on Wednesday 21st at 2pm and Christmas Day at 3:40pm "Manger Things" on Wednesday 21st at 1:30pm and Thursday 22nd at 3:30pm "A Made Maggie" (yep, this too) on Tuesday 20th at 2:30pm and Thursday 22nd at 10am No sign of "The Way of the Dog", which is set at Christmas but didn't originally premiere in December, and "'Tis the Fifteenth Season", which appeared several times in earlier iterations of the listings but has since been removed. There have been a few additional final slot changes since the update on the 7th, so reconfirm any viewing plans! Additionally, there's the big news we have been waiting for: Sky's premiere of season 34! The episode "Top Goon" premieres at noon on Christmas Eve (a late move, from 11am), to be repeated on Christmas Day at 3:15pm after the Christmas Message from the King. "Top Goon" isn't actually a Christmas-themed episode - we might get the Christmas opening credits, and it does have a wintery, ice hockey theme, but it's not a full-on festive story. It's likely that the run will continue in the New Year, probably jumping back to the start of the season; there's nothing in the schedules through January 6th, but we should have schedules through January 13th before Christmas, and I expect to see it continue that week (perhaps Sunday January 8th). Speaking of January: no episodes at all on New Year's Day or the 2nd; from Tuesday 3rd, we're back to the usual, 5pm and 6:30pm-8pm weekdays lineup, with season 21, returning to Sky after a couple of years away. The season 33 run that begins toward the end of the holidays remains incomplete for now, and my guess is it will return as a utility player on quiet weekends. Note that episodes starting between midnight and 5:30am are listed as part of the previous day's schedule, similar to most print TV guides.
